A Public Invitation

FROM THE U.S. GOVERNMENT - A PUBLIC TREATISE AND INVITATION

------

U.S. Secretary of State

------

September 15, 1828

The U.S. Secretary of State is issuing a public invitation to the Venezuelans in Gran Colombia to have a stake in the future of your nation. Gran Colombia, at the behest of those in Antiquoia, is allowing itself to be colonised by France. French troops operate freely, only French firms can operate and only French foreigners are permitted in many areas. This is not what you want. You want freedom, self-determination - not to be ruled by Europeans.

Our intelligence has revealed extensive collaboration between French troops and the government of Antiquoia. Further, our intelligence has revealed the existence of a burgeoning “Loyalist” movement, which has French aspirations, given their tagline “Liberte, Egalite, Loyal”. While many have thought these forces to be French - they are not. Regardless, this is merely an example of French neo-colonialism in the region. They are Colombian and ordered at the behest of one “JMC”, whose identity we are yet to discover.

We recommend that the forces of Venezuela stand up against this colonial threat. Let us have freedom, not backstabbing and colonial betrayal. Surely, we are better than colonialism. Join the ranks of the free in the United States and the rest of the Americas. I hope to hear from you.
